Head of Risk Control Unit-Professional & Public Sector (London)

Salary:  Basic salary £45-£65k + LTA, plus pension, car allowance, private healthcare and bonus scheme.

 Team Management:

  • Provide leadership to the Risk Control Unit (RCU) in line with the Team’s overall strategy
  • The ability to perform manage, develop, coach and motivate a Risk Control Unit.
  • Manage reward & recognition systems within the team
  • Liaise closely with Relationship Directors, Specialist Lending, BBS and Operational Rigour to ensure that relevant training is maintained to a high level across the team
  • Ensure that Best Practice, Skills and Knowledge are shared across the team, where appropriate working with other areas of the Bank e.g. Other Industry Teams (Leveraged Finance, Financial Markets), Specialist Lending, Operational Rigour, Product, Pricing Unit etc.
  • Ensure that product & market knowledge is maintained to a high level within the team
  • Take responsibility for Succession Planning for the RCU to include identification of new recruits and the recruitment & selection process
  •  Work closely with the Relationship Team and Specialist Lending (and, where appropriate Structured Finance) to ensure effective management of day to day staff resources to ensure that procedures and processes are followed, that appropriate support is provided to the Relationship Directors and that added value is provided where possible.

Business Management:

  • Manage the workflow of client facilities into the Risk Control Team
  • Champion the Sales/Credit partnership
  • Meet the requirements of Structured Finance & Relationship Teams for "transaction support" at all times
  • Ensure appropriate analysis & clarity in respect of required/requested facilities, conditions of sanction, monitoring & control ect thereby maintaining the quality of the credit risk profile of the portfolio 
  • Responsible for the application of Larger Business Operational Controls and checks framework including implementation of any regulatory impacts on the team.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly Classification of Limits Adjustment Return
  •  Know Your Customer – Responsible for the KYC performance of the team and the accurate maintenance of appropriate records.
  • Responsible for team’s Data Quality integrity and for the coordination of any related remediation exercises
  • Responsible for the team’s adherence to procedures and risk standard.
