2012: What’s in it for you?
Aside from such small matters as The Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, 2012 will be a crucially important year for the UK economy and for the Banking industry. Does continuing pressure on the world’s financial markets spell bad news for those job-hunting in the sector?
Not if you know where to look!
Previously, the Business Banking marketplace has been highly competitive, with the UK’s big 4 dominating market share. Although, RBS and Lloyds Banking Group will continue to streamline their businesses in 2012, and the other large banks seem happy to protect the share they’ve got rather than looking for growth, there is a bright light on the horizon.
Santander wants to play a vital role in the rejuvenation and confidence of British industry. In 2012, Santander hope to emulate their success in the commercial space with creating a specific Small Business Banking team and a highly competitive product offering that will focus on those businesses that turnover up to 250k.
A great opportunity for you talented people out there!
The 4.5m small businesses that operate here in the UK employ around 13.8m people and turnover £1,500(bn) per year – more than most countries – and Santander want to support their continued success and growth. With some of the world’s deepest and safest banking pockets, Santander have both the funds and the desire to invest here in the UK. With wider economic issues to contend with, it won’t be easy, but for that precise reason the time has never been better for them to compete on equal terms with the big boys, and tempt disillusioned customers away from their incumbent bank.
It is CRS’s recruitment expertise, keen understanding of this market place and close localized knowledge of the sectors within it, which has seen us form a strong bond with Santander that has given us the edge in recent years. Over the last two years in particular, we have found that the best candidates will always be in demand, regardless of wider market issues, and that all banks will fight hard to keep their best performers.
We have confidently used the collective experience and outstanding industry knowledge of our team of experts to closely align the values, cultures and demands of clients and candidates alike, ensuring placements are successful in the long term. We have worked extremely hard to proactively deliver services to clients that truly demonstrate a long term partnership approach, sharing market mapping, market intelligence and perception surveys that deepen our relationships and understanding our customers’ needs. We have demonstrated to candidates a service that keeps them informed and clear about their options and timescales, and reassures them at what we know can be a stressful time.
In an uncertain world, it is CRS’s longevity and strength that has seen us emerge from recent times better equipped to respond to market changes and provide a service to clients and candidates alike that is valued, trusted and keeps them (and us) ahead of the game. 2012 is set to be an important year for Business Banking, and we look forward to working with the people of the Banking industry to restore confidence in the marketplace.

Congratulations Crotastic!
Hope you all had a very enjoyable Christmas and New Year but it’s now back to business, “The CRS Fantasy Football League…”
Yet again, Matt Yates has tightened his vice-like grip at the top of the table with “Sizeable War Chests” opening up a 53 point gap on nearest contenders “Maccas Irons”, managed by Neil McCluskey with “The Bamber Babes” and “hardnosedtoffee” in hot pursuit.
At the bottom end, usual suspects “The Real Madrid” and “Congleton Town” continue their relegation dogfight with “were not really here” looking tempted to join in the fun!
As for the coveted Manager of the Month prize, there could only be one winner… Steve Cronin’s “CroTastic”, sporting festive Red & Green and employing Ba, Van Persie & Adebayor in a classic 4-3-2-1 Christmas tree formation, stormed December with a grand total of 353 points! Congratulations and £50 worth of vouchers will be winging their way over to you!!
Good luck for the New Year everyone.
